The Do-It-Yourself Tri is a great opportunity to figure out how this whole triathlon thing works! We will set up a transition area and provide hours of gear watch so you can comfortably test out a three-sport day. We will be on site the entire time, watching your stuff and answering your questions. We will even have Live Grit Ambassadors in transition providing guidance and support!

How to sign up
At the bottom of this page, there is a button to register now. Participants must purchase a $50 Live Grit Gift Card for free entry into the DIY Tri. Registrations are non-refundable. Registration is capped at 50 athletes.
How to get there
By bike: Ride along the Lake Front Trail and Ohio Street Beach will be just north of Navy Pier.
Driving & parking: Parking on Ohio St and Ontario St is metered and fairly available in the morning. On Ohio Street there is a walkway under Lake Shore Drive that brings you right to the beach. (This area is under construction so be extra cautious of detours, runners and bikers.)

Everything you think you'll need to complete a triathlon! Think of this as a dress rehearsal for race day.
What else you need to know
We always follow the Chicago Park District's guidelines. Closures to swimming in Lake Michigan will be posted on the Live Grit mobile app (iOS & Android),Twitter and Facebook accounts. In the event of a cancellation, we will do our best to reschedule.
The "course" will be the Lake Front Path, which is open to the public. We will tell athletes how far each leg will be in the race.There will not be any markings or support on the path or in the water. Participants are encouraged to attend other Live Grit events to get comfortable with each sport. All athletes must be finished by 11:30 am
